Acupuncture is a several thousand year-old Eastern medicine, which works by activating the body’s own self-healing power.There are several explanations for its operation:
According to the Eastern approach, the Qi energy runs through regular anatomical channels on the whole surface of the body. These are called meridians, which are like rivers of some energy: they irrigate and nourish the tissues through the body. Blockage in these energy channels is like a dam on a river, which causes diseases to the body. With proper stimulation, pressure (acupressure), heat (Moxa) or needles (acupuncture) we can remove the barriers and restore the normal flow in the meridians, eliminating pain and restoring organ functions.
Modern scientific explanation has shown that acupuncture treatment stimulates the nervous system and releases neurochemical substances into the muscles and spinal cord (thus the possibility of suggestion is excluded). These substances either alter the sensation of pain or trigger the release of other neurochemicals and hormones, thus affecting the body's internal regulatory system.
Acupuncture is a very old medical practice, and it takes a lot of learning and experience to master it. The term ‘medical acupuncture’ refers to a treatment given by a doctor who studied Western medicine and is licensed as a Western physician. Such a person can apply both the Eastern and the Western approach, or even the combination of the two.
With this technique, instead of stimulating the acupuncture points with the traditional needle, I place a tiny piece of completely bioabsorbable thread to the appropriate points. This way the treatment time is shorter (about 15 minutes)because the patient does not have to lie in the surgery with the needles in their body for a long time,nor do they have to come for a treatment several times a week. It is enough to get it once a month,which saves a lot of time and money. Also, this method is more effective than the conventional acupuncture because the implanted thread is continuously stimulating the acupuncture point for a month, not just during the short time of the traditional treatment.
This technique can only be performed in Hungary by a specialist who is also experienced in Traditional Chinese medicine.
